After two weeks of island-hopping, we saved the best for last. Maui is our last stop and this island is the place to be. Surfing, snorkeling, whale-watching, hiking, canoeing, jet skiing, shopping are all offered here, in world-class service and amenities.
I've done most of the activities mentioned above in other Pacific islands during my 8-month trip in 2008. This time, we focused on the culture and sights & sounds of the island. A road trip to Hana was highly recommended by the locals.
These are super waves for surfing...

Here's a shot from the Ke'anae Peninsula, northwest side of Maui. Breathtaking view.

Driving down the winding road to Hana, we saw rain forests and various waterfalls.
near Nahiku, pardon my no-make-up photo.

at Wailua Falls

at Kipahulu Falls, this shot was taken opposite way, the water streaming down the ocean.

at the cliffs in Kaupo, this reminds me of Ireland (minus the cows)....this is at the windy south side of Maui

Wine tasting at Tedeschi Winery in Ulupalakua. They make wines from local fruits: passion fruit, pineapple etc. But I still prefer and will promote Canadian ice wine from Ontario ;)

most importantly, trying out local bakeries. This one sells 7 kinds of banana bread.

The road trip to Hana was great! It was a 10-hour drive (with stops) all over the east and west coast of Maui.
